Upgrade Paths View

This view is available only in the full edition of InstallShield Express.

If you have released previous versions of your application and want to ensure that end users are able to upgrade to the current version without having to uninstall the previous version and install the current version, use the Upgrade Paths view to indicate upgrade information. The product code and the version of your new product must be different than the product code and version number of previously distributed products for the upgrade to be successful.

In the Upgrade Paths view, you can provide the upgrade code GUIDs, language identifiers, and other information for any previous versions of your product that you want the current version to upgrade.

Add an Upgrade Entry

To add an upgrade entry in this view, right-click Upgrade Paths and select New Upgrade Path from the context menu. If the version you want to upgrade exists on your system, you can browse in the Open explorer window to the .msi file. When the New UpgradeEntry is added, the upgrade property grid to the right is automatically populated using information from the selected file.

If the previously released .msi file is not on your system, click Cancel in the Open explorer dialog. Then, complete the property grid for that entry.
